Mike and Vanessa had a wedding at their home in Kouts, Indiana, rivaling many traditional wedding venues.
Walking into their backyard, I witnessed acres of land with a lone tree begging for an outdoor wedding ceremony.
Our day began with Vanessa’s daughters and bridesmaids helping her prepare for the big day and the groom overseeing chair setup and parking logistics.
Pre Ceremony Prep
Ceremony
Ring security had been hired to make sure nothing went awry during the nuptials underneath the lone tree with the sun streaming through it. Although temperatures were hot for this summer backyard wedding - the ‘cool factor’ was intense, from the lovely textured dress to the GQ suits of the groom + groomsmen, everything was on point.
Guests serenaded the couple with confetti as they returned down the aisle after their first kiss and selfie!
Portraits
It was all about the sun during portraits of the bride and groom at this summer wedding. My focus was on the newlyweds, of course, but incorporating the intense sunshine prevalent on their big day was not hidden, whether it was sneaking through the majestic tree, high in the blue sky, or setting at the edge of their property.
Reception
The reception was held indoors and outdoors, featuring heartfelt speeches from Vanessa’s daughters, some delicious catered food, and a Led Zeppelin ballad for the first dance.
