Marnee and Daren and their friends and family came all of the way from the northern part of Michigan for a late morning wedding at The Basilica of the Sacred Heart at Notre Dame University.
Guests filled the pews to near capacity and the couple had their very own set of priests oversee the ceremony.
Although it said Spring on the calendar, it was a blustery cold day with a constant rain. After photos of the couple at the altar we all braved the elements for outside wedding photos on Notre Dame campus near the Golden Dome.
The stairs at the bottom of the Golden Dome building are a great spot for a large group picture as well as the wedding party.
Here are some tips for Notre Dame weddings at The Basilica of the Sacred Heart:
Keep in mind that Notre Dame has a very limited timeframe for pictures after the ceremony. We will only have time for bride and groom photos within the church so I suggest family photos and wedding party group photos outside the church and / or at your reception venue.
Parking can be confusing so be sure to encourage your guests to arrive early.
The photography rules are strict and I always comply with them (no flash allowed during the ceremony, no shots from the balcony or center aisle other than the very back row).
The campus of Notre Dame can be great for pictures. Let’s schedule enough time to do these before heading out to the reception.
Marnee and Daren were off to an early afternoon brunch soon after the ceremony ended. I was glad to have been able to capture their Notre Dame wedding ceremony at The Basilica of the Sacred Heart.
