Love After Dark: Capturing the Magic of Engagement Photos At Night
I'm all in wherever you choose to have your engagement photos done. Whether it’s the local park in the Fall or a beach engagement session, I’m all about it.
However, consider having an engagement session at night if you’d like to try something different. The city lights of Chicago or a local downtown as your backdrop can make for unique and romantic images.
Let’s look at a recent night session with Alara and Juah.
City buildings turn on their indoor and outdoor lights at twilight, which can create unique background colors.
When the city sleeps, love shines - this certainly happened with Alara and Juah as they embraced romantically underneath city street lamps.
While city traffic can be annoying during the day, the headlights and taillights of passing cars become creative tools for stunning nighttime engagement photos at night.
I often use prisms during night photo sessions to reflect light into abstract masses of exploding color. In the series above, I used the lights hanging above a restaurant’s outdoor patio.
Of course, if you find a good old fashioned dip a must have for your romantic engagement photos at night, you might as well use the canopy that changes color every 15 seconds, as your background of choice! :)
